Indra drank the costly Soma-- Here, Sayana observes,Vamadeva vindicates his own wilfulness by the example of Indra, whb ceme to Tvasta house uninvited, and by force, drank the Soma prepared far other gods1.

            There is no Analogy, Etc.- Aditi defends her son upon the plea that, as his period of gestation was marvellous, his actions are not to be compared with those of any others.

Ask them what is this they say- That is, they are proclaiming the greatness of Indra, by which, and not by their own efforts, they have been extricated from the cloud.

            And- The rest of the Sukta is by the Rsi in praise of Indra.

The commentator says a Raksasi, whom Indra, although at first swallowed by her, drove out of the lying-in chamber.

Vyamsa- The name of a Raksasa who also attempted to destroy the infant Indra.

Since you have slain the Father- Yat praksintih pitaram padagrhya the particulars of this incident are not related by Sayana, who contents himself with saying the allusions are variously explained by Taittiriyakas-Taittiriya Samhita VI.I.AL6.

            In Extreme Destitution, Etc.- So Manu has, Vamadeva who well knew right and wrong, was by no means rendered  impure, though desirous when oppressed with hunger, of eating the flesh of dogs for the preservation Of his life, x.106 icchan attum, wishing to eat, might be considered equivocal, but the text here states suno antrani pece, I cooked the entails of a dog.

            The Falcon- That is, swift as a hawk, syena-vat sighragamindrah.
